Introducing the ultimate Braai Pizza Oven.
We as a family absolutely love outdoor cooking on our Weber Kettle Grill and although we cook virtually anything on our Weber,
The pleasure of a WOOD-Flamed pizza on the Weber was a mere dream.
In August of the year 2011, I was “inspired” with the idea of designing an outdoor pizza oven that was portable and affordable to the average family.
kettleCADDY Pizza Oven is not a Weber pizza oven, but it can be used to convert your Weber Kettle Grill OR any other 57cm charcoal kettle grill into an amazingly effective PIZZA OVEN.
BENEFITS
SAFETY OF THE KETTLE CADDY PIZZA OVEN:
What's Included:
HOW TO ASSEMBLE AND OPERATE THE KETTLE CADDY PIZZA OVEN.
HOW TO USE THE PIZZA STONE
The Pizza Stone has to be preheated to a certain temperature in order to work effectively;
Always place the Pizza Stone in the kettle to be heated up gradually inside the kettle – this should take between 30 – 40 minutes.
The purpose of this is to allow the stone to absorb the heat evenly.
Remember that you are working with a fire brick! If you place a cold Pizza Stone into a hot oven it might not withstand the thermal shock and it could shatter;
Familiarise yourself with the Pizza Stone and how much flour to dust on the stone before baking.
Too little and you will find it difficult to get the pizza off the stone in one piece.
MAINTENANCE OF THE KETTLE CADDY PIZZA OVEN:
Taking care of the kettleCADDY Pizza Oven will give you better results every time you bake a pizza.
The kettleCADDY Pizza Oven units are relatively easy to maintain and doing so will maximise the performance and enhance longevity;
Before or after using the kettleCADDY Pizza Oven, do the following:-
Do not wash the Pizza Stone with water and soap – simply scrape the Pizza Stone after use whilst it is still hot by removing any dough and/or food from the surface of the Stone. This procedure will maximise the lifespan of your Pizza Stone;
Leave the Pizza Stone inside the kettleCADDY Pizza Oven until it has cooled off properly before handling the stone;
Never allow the hot Pizza Stone to come into contact with cold water – it might crack.
KettleCaddy fits on a standard (57cm) kettle (Weber or Cadac).

HOW TO ASSEMBLE AND OPERATE THE KETTLE CADDY PIZZA OVEN.
- Find a suitable safe & solid area for the Charcoal Kettle Grill unit. Remove the lid off the bottom drum and place it in a safe area close to the kettle.
- Place the Barrier Basket on the bottom grill as shown in the (illustration) and take the standard firelighter and place 4 – 5 small pieces on the outside parameter of the Barrier Basket and then light the firelighter.
- As soon as the firelighter burns thoroughly, gently dump the charcoal (illustrated below) on top of the burning firelighter. Be careful not to burn yourself whilst doing this. Leave the charcoal until all the coals burn properly.
- Place a few (4-5) pieces of wood on top of the hot charcoal. BE SURE TO USE WOOD THAT IS DRY AND NOT TOO THICK (BLACK WATTLE, BLUE GUM) – it needs to flame-up easily and burn constantly (see below the difference between a normal size braai wood and the ideal size to bake pizzas with)
- First place the Pizza Stone on the Pizza Stone Rotator Wheel and the fit the kettleCADDY Pizza Oven onto the Kettle Drum and make sure that the Pizza Slot Opening is positioned to the front of the kettle on the opposite side of the fire. Once the wood fires up and burns properly, place the Kettle-lid on top of the kettleCADDY Pizza Oven; In order to heat up the Pizza Stone to the required temperature, pre-heat the Stone inside the kettleCADDY Pizza Oven for at least 30-40 minutes.
